ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades closed out their lightest week of action this season, picking up a tie in the only game they played. The 'Blades enter this week's action with a record of 19-13-4 (42 pts., 2nd South Division).
THIS WEEK (All Times Eastern)
Tuesday, January 18 vs. Augusta Lynx 10:30 a.m.
GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Lynx tangle for the third of seven times this season, and the third of four times at Germain Arena. Florida leads the season series 2-0-0, picking up wins of 3-2 and 5-2 on Dec. 17 & 18 at Germain Arena. The Everblades lead the all-time season series 31-9-3, including a record of 18-3-2 all-time on home ice vs. Augusta. Tuesday's contest is the first of five games to be played between the two teams in a three week span. The Lynx enter this week's action with a record of 13-19-4 (30 pts., 6th East Division). Tuesday's special start time is because of "School Day", where area school kids will be in attendance. It is the only game, the Everblades play on home ice this season that starts before 6:00 p.m.
Friday, January 21 & 22 vs. Gwinnett Gladiators Both Games: 7:30 p.m.
GAME NOTES: The 'Blades and the Gladiators meet up for the third and fourth times this year when they meet this weekend at Germain Arena. The Everblades hold a 2-0-0 record vs. Gwinnett this season. Florida won the first match-up 4-3 in a shootout on Oct. 26 at Germain Arena, and then picked up a 5-2 win in Gwinnett on Dec. 7. The two teams meet for a pair of games in February at Gwinnett to close out the season series. The Gladiators enter this week's action with a record of 18-12-4 (40 pts., 3rd, South Division) and have lost seven of their last 10 games.

Saturday, January 15 vs. Columbia Inferno 4-3 OTL
The Everblades suffered their straight loss in overtime on Saturday night to the Columbia Inferno. Columbia picked up a 4-3 win by scoring 32 seconds into overtime. Florida trailed 2-0 by the 11 minute mark of the first period, but battled back into the game when Damian Surma scored with 1:32 left in the opening period. After Columbia opened a 3-1 lead nine minutes into the second period, the Everblades pulled starting goaltender Rob Zepp for Craig Kowalski. Kowalski held strong through the remainder of regulation, allowing the Everblades to come back to tie the game and send the contest to overtime. Reggie Berg, who was playing in his first game since Oct. 30, cut the Columbia lead to one late in the second period, and Matt Hendricks tied the game with a power play goal at 12:44 of the third period. Florida earned a point in the standings with the overtime loss. Kowalski picked up the tie in goal, stopping 15 of 16 shots he faced in the 31:32 he was in net. Zepp allowed three goals on 11 shots. Florida special teams: PP: 1-for-6, PK: 3-for-3.

Seeing Stars: The Florida Everblades have two players representing the club in the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game in Reading, PA on January 26. Matt Hendricks and Matt Pagnutti were both voted as starters for the American Conference squad. For both players this is the first All-Star Game they will play in.
Plus-Performer!: Everblades defenseman Tim O'Connell was named the ECHL's Reebok Hockey Plus-Performer of the Month for December. O'Connell closed out the month with a league-high plus-13 rating. The 6-foot-4 defenseman was a plus-2 or higher in six of Florida's 13 games during December, including a team-high plus-4 on Dec. 4 in Florida's 5-1 win over Pee Dee. O'Connell is tied for third on the team in plus/minus with a plus-11 rating.
League Leaders: Matt Hendricks enters this week's action ranked tied for seventh in the ECHL in scoring with his 37 points. He is also second in scoring among all ECHL rookies. Hendricks' 17 goals also leads all first year players...Brad Church & Damian Surma are among the league leaders in plus/minus. Church leads the league with a plus-20 rating & Surma is tied for second in the league with a plus-19 rating...defenseman Matt Pagnutti is tied for 13th in scoring among ECHL defenseman with his 18 points.
A Milestone Night: Everblades forward Reggie Berg scored his 100th professional goal on Saturday, January 15 against the Columbia Inferno. Berg has now scored 210 points in 224 career games, and has notched 132 points as a member of the Florida Everblades in 110 games.
Approaching Milestones: A couple Everblades players are closing in on milestones, here's a look at who's doing what: Jared Newman is five games from skating in his 100th professional game...Simon Tremblay needs to play in 14 more games to become the third Everblade player this season to reach the 500 games played mark for their career...Brent McDonald is nine games away from skating in his 300th career game...Ryan Brindley needs to play in 28 more games to hit the 400 games played plateau in his career...Brandon Coalter finds himself 11 games away from his 100th game in an Everblades uniform...Damian Surma is 27 games shy of playing in his 200th professional game and is 20 points away from his 100th career point.
Everblades U: The Florida Everblades will begin the inaugural "Everblades Univeristy" this Friday, January 21 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. prior to Florida's game vs. Gwinnett. Everblades U is a way for fans to learn about all the in's & out's of the game of hockey, from the rules on the ice, to the rules set off the ice by the ECHL, plus more!
