Florida Everblades News Release
Estero, FL - Florida Everblades head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that the team has completed a trade with the Texas Wildcatters for defenseman Tim Branham. In return, the Wildcatters will receive future considerations and financial considerations from the Everblades.
Branham joins the Everblades after skating in 21 games with the Wildcatters this season. The 23-year-old native of Eagle River, Wisconsin had seven points (1g, 6a) and 16 penalty minutes with Texas this year.
"The addition of Tim's size will be a big positive to our defensive corps" said Fleming. "He moves the puck well, and has proven to be a steady player on the blue line throughout his career."
This season was Branham's second with Texas, after playing in 22 games with the Wildcatters last year, notching 10 points. In addition, the former third round draft pick by the Vancouver Canucks in 2000 spent 34 games with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League last season, picking up one assist and 14 PIM.
Prior to that, Branham began his professional career in 2002-03 splitting time between the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL and Saint John Flames of the AHL. While with Johnstown he scored eight points (1g, 7a) in 30 games, and notched nine points (1g, 8a) in 30 games with the Flames. From 1999-02, Branham spent three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Barrie Colts and Guelph Storm, scoring a combined 72 points in 167 games.
In separate moves, the Everblades activated defenseman Shane Hnidy from the 7-day injured reserve list, and placed defenseman Tom Reimann on the 7-Day IR. Reimann has missed the last three games with a concussion.
