Gators Stunned by Texas 2-1

Beaumont, TX. The Louisiana IceGators gave up two 2nd period goals as the Texas Wildcatters ended a 10 game winless streak with a 2-1 victory in Beaumont on Thursday night.

After a scoreless first period, it took Texas 1:04 to gain the lead in the 2nd period.. Ryan Fultz scoring his 9th as he pounced on a rebound and slid the puck past a sprawling Nathan Marsters to give the Wildcatters a 1-0 lead. The Gators went 0-4 on the power play in the 2nd but Texas capitalized on their only chance. Terry Marchant rifled a snap shot from the left circle just under the crossbar at 18:12 to pad the lead to 2-0. It was Marchant's 4th in 10 games as a Wildcatter.

Dan Sullivan cut the lead in half at the 1:01 mark of the 3rd as his slap shot from 40 feet beat Phil Osaer low to the stick side. John Evangelista getting the only assist on Sullivan's 2nd goal as an IceGator. Louisiana would get no closer as the Wildcatters win for only the 2nd time all season on home ice, 2-1 the final score. Louisiana outshot Texas 34-32, but went 0-7 on the power play while Texas went 1-4.

Coming Up-

Friday, December 31 vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots at 7:05pm The IceGators will ring in the New Year with one more game in this fierce rivalry. With Sunday's loss, Louisiana is 2-3-1 vs. Pensacola this season. After the action on the ice, the IceGators will host their annual New Year's Eve party. The Fun Shop will be handing out 1,000 noise makers to ring in 2005.
