Erik Bedard Set to Make Rehab Start with Rainiers
July 1, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tacoma Rainiers News Release
Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Rainiers are set to welcome Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Erik Bedard to Cheney Stadium in a rehab start scheduled to take place tonight at 7:00 p.m.
The start will mark the left-hander's first as a Rainier and his third since ending his 2009 campaign early following season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder on August 14.
Bedard, 31, was originally acquired by Seattle in a trade with Baltimore in exchange for outfielder Adam Jones, left-handed pitcher George Sherrill, right-handed pitcher Kam Mickolio and left-hander pitcher Tony Butler on February 8, 2008. He re-signed with the Mariners on February 6, 2010.
The Canada native is 11-7 with a 3.23 ERA over two seasons and 30 starts with Seattle in 2008 and 2009. He went 5-3 with a 2.82 ERA last season and allowed two earned runs or fewer in 13 of his 15 starts with the Mariners.
Over a combined seven Major League seasons with Seattle and Baltimore, Bedard has a career record of 51-41 with a 3.81 ERA. Since 2006, he has put together a 3.40 ERA, which ranks him ninth among all pitchers who have tossed a minimum of 500.0 innings.
Individual game tickets for Bedard's rehab start with the Rainiers are on sale now and can be purchased online at ww.tacomarainiers.com or over the phone at 253-752-7700. Tickets are also on sale at the Rainiers Box Office on game days Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
