Round Rock Express News Release

Memphis - Donavan Solano's solo homer in the top of the seventh capped a two-run inning that sent the Memphis Redbirds past the Round Rock Express 5-3 Thursday night at AutoZone Park. The Express (35-36) are currently riding a four-game losing streak, while the Redbirds (43-37) took the first game of the series and hold a 3-2 edge in the season series.

Solano's lead off homer snapped a 3-3 tie in the seventh, and the Redbirds added an insurance run in the inning on a Jon Jay sacrifice fly out. James Rapoport scored after tripling behind Solano's round tripper.

Reliever Rich Rundles (2-1) earned the win after pitching a scoreless seventh, allowing one hit while tallying two punch outs. Redbirds starter P.J. Walters worked 5.0 innings, while giving up three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks. Oneli Perez and Eduardo Sanchez worked two scoreless frames, while Josh Kinney (4) picked up the save.

Yorman Bazardo (2-2) picked up the loss; surrendering three runs on four hits with three strikeouts and walk over 3.1 innings. Bazardo relieved starter Wesley Wright who threw 3.2 innings, allowing two runs, one of which was earned, on no hits with five strikeouts and four walks. Brad Thompson gave up two hits in the eighth, but didn't allow a run.

Brian Bogusevic's two-out, two-run home run in the third erased a 2-0 deficit. The Redbirds responded with a Jay RBI double in the fifth bringing in Rapoport who led off the inning with a single. A sacrifice RBI fly by Drew Locke in the sixth evened the score at 3-3.

Bogusevic, Luiz Maza and Ramon Vazquez each led the offensive campaign for the Express with two hits apiece. Drew Locke picked up a hit, extending his hitting streak to nine games, while hitting safely in 13 of his last 14 games.

Collin DeLome returned to the lineup after spending a month on the disabled list after sustaining a shoulder injury May 23 in a collision with the Reno catcher Carlos Corporan.

Round Rock and Memphis continue the three-game series Friday with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch at AutoZone Park. Southpaw Polin Trinidad (3-6, 4.32 ERA) toes the slab for the Express, countered by righty Brandon Dickson (8-4, 2.94) for the Redbirds.
