ERIE, PA - On Wednesday, April 24, 2019, the Erie SeaWolves pitching staff combined for the third no-hitter in franchise history, as starter Alex Faedo and reliever Drew Carlton combined to blank the Bowie Baysox, at UPMC Park, 4-0. The previous two no-hitters were thrown by Thad Weber on August 22, 2009 and Elvin Hernandez in 1995.

Faedo was dominant from the start, retiring the first 11 Baysox batters and facing just two over the minimum in his 7.0 shutout innings. He also struck out five while throwing 90 pitches (58 strikes). Carlton worked around a leadoff walk issued to start the eighth inning, inducing a double-play ball to erase the runner and then finally working a one, two, three ninth.

Offensively, Erie utilized two long balls off the bats of Kody Eaves and Troy Montgomery. First, with one on and one out in the bottom of the fourth, Eaves broke a scoreless tie by sending his second home run of the season off the net down the right field line. Montgomery came through with an insurance blast in the seventh, a no doubter onto the street in right.

Jose Azocar improved his hitting streak to seven games with a leadoff single in the fifth, while Derek Hill's own seven-game streak came to a close.

Erie will now prepare to hit the road for a six-game trip, first beginning in Trenton on Friday with RHP Logan Shore (1-1, 3.00 ERA) on the mound. He'll face RHP Garrett Whitlock (2-0, 1.50 ERA) as the game can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1330 AM, SeaWolves.com, or seen on MiLB.TV.

Mark your calendars however, as the SeaWolves return to UPMC Park on May 2nd for a seven-game homestand, featuring four game against Bowie and the final three against the Akron Rubberducks.
