Tonight, the SeaWolves look to snap a two-game slide as they take on the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) in the middle game of a three-game series at New Britain Stadium. Last night, the SeaWolves jumped out to a 2-0 lead but for the second straight day, gave up a four-spot in the fourth inning and the deficit was too much to overcome as the Rock Cats held on for a 4-3 win. Erie has now dropped four of its last five games since the club reached the .500 mark on June 4 at 27-27. Last night's loss was Erie second straight one-run loss. Erie's last three games have been decided by a run with Erie coming out on the wrong end in two of the three...The Rock Cats boast the league's third-best team batting average at .269. New Britain is 10th in the league with a 4.43 team ERA...Lefty Jay Voss takes the mound for the SeaWolves making his fourth start since his promotion from Class-A Lakeland. Voss dropped his last start against Harrisburg on June 5. In the game, he allowed five runs on six hits with a season-high five walks while striking out three in 3.1 innings of work (his shortest outing since coming up from Lakeland). Erie lost the game 7-4...RHP Brett Jacobson takes the mound for the Rock Cats making his 15th appearance and sixth start. Tonight will be the fourth consecutive outing for Jacobson as a starter. In his last start against Bowie, the righty allowing two runs two unearned runs on two hits with a walk and five strikeouts in five innings of work in a no-decision. Jacobson was originally selected by the Tigers in the fourth round of the 2008 draft out of Vanderbilt University. Detroit traded Jacobson for Aubrey Huff in 2009.
