Altoona Curve News Release

READING, Pa. - After a rain delay to start the ballgame, the Altoona Curve put up 11 runs on 11 hits in just three innings before more rain suspended play on Saturday night at FristEnergy Stadium with Altoona leading the Reading Phillies 11-1 going into the bottom of the third. The game will be picked up at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday with the completion of the game and then a second game, only seven innings, after that.

In the first inning off J.C. Ramirez, Anthony Norman led the game off with a triple, followed by a double by Starling Marte. At that point the Curve led 1-0 and would extend the lead to 3-0 after a walk, a single and a two-run single by Jeremy Farrell. With two down and the bases loaded, Curve pitcher Aaron Pribanic singled through the right side to make it 4-0 and a bases loaded walk made it 5-0 after one.

The Curve piled on two more runs in the second on a double by Matt Curry and an RBI single by Greg Picart and added four more runs in the rain in the third to extend their advantage to 11-1, after the Phillies scored a run off Pribanic on an RBI groundout in the second.

All told, the Curve had 11 hits through three innings with each member of the team having at least one hit and at least a run scored or an RBI.

After the completion of the suspended game, which will play through nine innings, the Curve (30-30) and the Phillies (33-27) will square off in their series finale Sunday as LHP Jeff Locke (5-5, 4.66) will make the start for Altoona and he will be opposed by RHP Tyler Cloyd (0-0, 3.00). The game, a seven inning contest will start 30 minutes after game one. Game time is set for 1:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium for the completion of the suspended game in Reading, Pa. with pregame coverage on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network beginning at 12:35 p.m.
