ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves wrap up their longest road trip of the season as they try to avoid a three-game series sweep against the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) at Waterfront Park. Yesterday, the Thunder took two from the SeaWolves, winning the completion of a suspended game in 10 innings and taking down the 'Wolves 2-1 in the second game. The 'Wolves are 2-6 on the current road trip. Of the six losses on the road trip, all have been by three runs or fewer, five have been by one run and three have been walkoff losses... Erie is tied for the fewest road wins in the EL (22-37) and since July 8, the SeaWolves are 4-14 away from Jerry Uht Park...The two losses on Wednesday dropped the SeaWolves to 2.5 games behind the wild card leading Reading Phillies with both teams having 20 games remaining. Bowie remains in fourth place in the Division, a half gave behind Erie...Entering play today, the 'Wolves have dropped nine of their last 12 games...Tonight, the SeaWolves wrap up the Northern Division portion of the schedule. Erie is 22-17 against the EL North. The 'Wolves have dropped four straight series to EL North clubs after starting 8-0-1 in series against the North...Ryan Strieby is day-to-day after being hit in the head by a pitch in game two on Wednesday...OF Andy Dirks has been placed on the Erie disabled list, retroactive to August 18 with left wrist soreness...Following today's game, Erie will play eight against Akron, three against Reading, four against Altoona and five against Harrisburg to end the regular season. Erie needs to gain three games on Reading to earn the wild card. Erie will have one fewer games played than Reading due to a cancelled game.
