Tonight, the SeaWolves continue their first road trip of the season as they look for back-to-back wins in the opener of a two games series at First Energy Stadium against the Reading Phillies (Philadelphia Phillies). Yesterday, the SeaWolves split a doubleheader against Bowie. The 'Wolves dropped the first game 11-7 as Bowie scored 11 unanswered. Erie took the second game in extra innings as Jamie Johnson extended his hitting streak to eight straight games with a leadoff home run in a 2-1 win. The win in game two put the 'Wolves back at .500, in a four-way tie for first place atop the Western Division...The Phillies enter play today with the league's top mark at 8-3. Reading has won eight of 10 and three consecutive. They swept Akron in a doubleheader on Sunday...This is the first of two trips into Reading this season. The two clubs will play four series. This is the first season since 2008 that Erie will play multiple series in Reading...Righty Jacob Turner takes the mound for the SeaWolves making his third start and first against the R-Phils. Turner has taken back-to-back no-decisions in his first two starts. He is tied for fourth in the league in strikeouts and leads the 'Wolves starting rotation with a 2.08 ERA...Righty Austin Hyatt takes the mound for Reading making his third start. Hyatt has not allowed more than one run in each of his first two starts, both wins...Reading enters today's game with the league's top offense, hitting .287 as a team. The Phillies lead the league with 62 runs scored while the SeaWolves are tied for second in the EL with 46 runs scored...Erie has scored seven or more runs in five of the last seven games.

The SeaWolves and Phillies meet 14 times in 2011. - Defensively, the SeaWolves have committed 15 errors which is the most in the EL.- Chris Cron (Manager) and Jerry Martin (Hitting Coach) are both new to the Tigers system. Pitching Coach Ray Burris returns for his fourth consecutive season with the Howlers. - 2011 marks the 17th season of SeaWolves baseball, the 13th season of Double-A and the 11th season as a Detroit Tigers affiliate. - The SeaWolves are 4-2 in night games and 1-3 in day games. - Erie's pitching staff ranks 11th in the league with a 4.14 team ERA. - Jamie Johnson is third in the league with nine runs scored and is tied for third with 26 total bases.- Erie's offense ranks sixth in the league with a .238 team average.- The 'Wolves are hitting .204 with RISP and just .162 with two outs and RISP.- As a team, the SeaWolves are 1-for-9 with the bases loaded. - Michael Bertram ranks fifth in the league with a .375 batting average.- This is Erie's only two-game series of the season.- Erie is 1-3 on the current road trip.- Erie is 2-0 against the Eastern Division.
