BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Mets withstood a 32-minute rain delay, steady drizzle, and 40-degree temperatures and came out with a hard-earned 6-5 win over the Portland Sea Dogs tonight at NYSEG Stadium.

For the second-straight game, the B-Mets used the long ball to jumpstart their offense. With two aboard in the home half of third, a misplay by second baseman Oscar Tejeda on a potential double play ball prolonged the inning.

Josh Satin made the Sea Dogs pay by connecting with his second home run in as many days. Satin, in his second start of the season at first base, stroked a 1-0 pitch from Portland starter Michael Lee over the left field fence for the three-run homer.

Binghamton was able to chase Lee from the game in the fourth when Mike Fisher and Jean Luc Blaquiere both got on base to start the frame. Sea Dogs manager Kevin Boles made the call to the bullpen and brought in right-hander Caleb Clay.

Clay was greeted by a successful sacrifice bunt by Kai Gronauer and then struck out Jordany Valdespin. With two outs, veteran Jesus Feliciano came through by lining a single to right field that plated both base runners and gave the B-Mets a 5-0 lead.

Given the fresh five-run advantage, Moore easily retired Jorge Padron on one pitch to start off the fifth inning. However, things would go downhill for Moore in a hurry. The right-hander allowed the next five batters he faced to reach safely; all via the single. By the time the dust had settled and Wally Backman called upon Ricky Brooks to relieve Moore, the Sea Dogs had scored two runs and loaded bases.

Alex Hassan popped into an infield fly out, but Tim Federowicz smoked a single back up the middle to plate two runs and cut the B-Mets lead down to one.

Binghamton scratched out their final run of the game in the fifth, when Satin led off with a double and came home on Brahiam Maldonado's two-bagger.

Owning a two-run lead, the fate of the game rested with the B-Mets bullpen and they delivered for the second-straight night. Brooks pitched a perfect sixth and gave way to Eric Niesen who stranded two baserunners in a scoreless seventh. Erik Turgeon kept pace and worked around a two-out double to turn in a shutout eighth.

John Lujan started the ninth bidding for a save in consecutive nights. He retired the first two batters easily before falling into trouble. Che-Hsuan Lin singled, took second on defensive indifference, and promptly scored on Hassan's single to right field to make it a 6-5 game.

With Hassan on first and the outfield positioned in a no-doubles defense, Tim Federowicz crushed a ball that shot to the right-centerfield gap and rolled to the wall. Rightfielder Raul Reyes tracked it down and quickly relayed it to the infield as Hassan was being held up by third base coach and manager Kevin Boles.

With the tying run on third and go-ahead run at second, Sea Dogs catcher Ryan Lavarnway put a charge into a 2-0 offering from Lujan and drove it to deep centerfield. Feliciano raced back, had enough room, and made the catch to secure the B-Mets fourth win of the season.

Binghamton (4-6) will be back in action tomorrow night to take on the Portland Sea Dogs for the second game of a three-game series. Mark Cohoon (0-0, 0.75) will make his third start for the B-Mets while RHP Alex Wilson (2-0, 2.45) will go for Portland.
