Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Senators opened their three-game series with the Altoona Curve with a 6-2 win. Brad Meyers pitched five innings for his second win on the season, bouncing back from his first loss in almost two years. Coupled with the win in game two on Sunday, it's the first time this season the Senators have won consecutive games.

Harrisburg scored three runs in the fourth and eighth innings. All but one Senator had a hit in the game with Steve Lombardozzi leading the way with three hits while Tyler Moore and Devin Ivany had a pair of hits. Ivany also had two RBIs. The Senators also had season high in triples and doubles with three each. It's the second game in a row the Sens had double-digits in hits.

Meyers struck out three and allowed just one run in the game, a home run off the bat of Jordy Mercer. Jeff Mandel followed, going two shut-out innings and Hassan Pena finished by pitching the final two innings and allowing a meaningless run in the bottom of the ninth.

The Senators improve to 5-6 with the win and are 3-2 on the current seven-game road trip while the Curve fall to 5-6. Game two of the series is Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. with the Sens sending RH Erik Davis to the mound against LH Jeff Locke for the Curve. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:15 p.m.
