ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves look to make it two straight wins as they take on the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) in the middle game of a three-game series at Jerry Uht Park. The âWolves took down the Sea Dogs in the series opener on Tuesday night, taking an early 6-0 lead and going on for an 11-2 win. With the win, Erie remains in second place in the EL South, five games behind first place Akron and 1.5 games behind second place Reading who were also both victorious on Tuesday...After playing 56 straight games to open the season against Southern Division opponents, Erie is now in a stretch of 12 consecutive games against the Northern Division. Erie will play 41 games against the EL North this season...Righty Jonah Nickerson takes the mound tonight for the Howlers, making his 12th appearance and 11th start of the season. Since returning from a brief in the bullpen for one appearance on May 25, Nickerson is 1-1 in two starts and has tossed back-to-back seven inning outings. He was the tough luck loser in his last start against Altoona on June 4 allowing four runs, two earned, on 10 hits with no walks and four strikeouts in a 4-3 Erie loss...Righty Adam Mills takes the mound for the Sea Dogs making his 10th start of the season. He took a no-decision in his last start against Binghamton going six innings, allowing a run on three hits with a walk and three strikeouts. He is 0-2 with a pair of no-decisions in his last four starts...Brennan Boesch is hitting .389 over his last five games (7x18, 1 HR, 7 RBI)...First baseman Ryan Strieby is out of the starting lineup for the fourth consecutive game with a sore left wrist. He is listed as day-to-day.
