NEW BRITAIN, Ct - Lefty Daniel Moskos tossed a season-high 7.0 innings but the Altoona Curve bats were held in check as the New Britain Rock Cats grabbed their second consecutive win of a three-game series at New Britain Stadium by the score of 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Altoona was energized by the return of outfielder Jose Tabata who was activated from the disabled list on Wednesday morning after missing the last 37 games with a strained right hamstring. However, after just two at-bats and going 0-for-2, Tabata left the game shortly after he flew out to center field.

The Curve grabbed a 1-0 edge in the top of the third inning as Jim Negrych doubled home Miguel Perez.

That's all the Curve would get, however, as New Britain righty Jay Rainville would silence the Curve bats, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing just the one run. The combination of righties Alex Burnett and Anthony Slama proceeded to toss 3.1 innings of shutout baseball and keep the Curve off the board.

Daniel Moskos tossed 7.0 innings permitting just two runs which came in the fourth inning. A solo home run off the bat of New Britain's Wilson Ramos tied the score, 1-1. Toby Gardenhire would add an RBI single to give the ‘Cats a lead they would not relinquish.

Reliever Jeff Sues would come on and allowed the final run over his 0.2 innings of work.

The Curve will look to salvage the final game of the series on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. by sending lefty Kyle Bloom (0-3, 3.72) to the mound. New Britain will counter with right-hander Cole DeVries (4-5, 3.05). Radio coverage of the contest begins at 6:20 p.m. on flagship station ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and Curve Radio Network affiliates.
