DAYTON, Ohio - Too little time ... too little ice.

Tuesday's Dayton Bombers hockey game against the Wheeling Nailers has been postponed because of mechanical problems with the chiller that makes ice at the Nutter Center.

The ice was taken out for the weekend Arenacross event and when Nutter Center workers started to put the ice in Monday, they discovered the ice-making problem. "We've done this before and typically we don't have problems making ice," said John Siehl, director of the Nutter Center. "But it is an intricate process and it just takes time."

According to Siehl, the process usually takes approximately 36 hours to complete. The one-inch surface is frozen in phases, painted and lines and logos are applied.

"John (Siehl) is really attentive to the quality of the ice," said Costa Papista, Bombers president and co-owner. "We don't want to put players or referees in danger."

The Wheeling game has not been rescheduled but will likely take place in late March. All tickets for Tuesday's game will be honored in the exact seat locations.
