Storm's Brodeur Named RBK Hockey Goalie Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Toledo Storm Mike Brodeur is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 15-21.

The native of Calgary, Alberta was 3-0-0 with two shutouts as the Storm went 3-0-0 and improved to two games over 500.

The 23-year-old stopped 81 of 84 shots he faced for a goals-against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .964. After stopping 25 shots in a 4-0 win over North Division leader Cincinnati on Jan. 19, the 6-foot-2 and 167-pound Brodeur stopped 32 shots in a 5-3 win over Dayton on Jan. 20 and completed his week by stopping all 24 shots for his second shutout in a 3-0 win over Johnstown on Jan. 21.

He is tied for second in the ECHL with three shutouts and is 5-2-0 with a goals-against average of 2.00 and a save percentage of .931. Brodeur has split time this season between Augusta where he was 2-0-0 with a goals-against average of 2.00 and Toledo where he is 3-2-0 with a goals-against average of 2.00.

Selected in the seventh round (211th overall) by Chicago in the 2003 National Hockey Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Blackhawks, Brodeur has played two previous seasons in the ECHL with Greenville where he went 33-23-3 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.64 and a save percentage of .923 in 59 regular season games.
