November 22, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release
Thanks to four points, including two goals from Josh Green and multi point night's from Joakim Lindstrom, Drew Miller, TJ Trevelyan, Matt Veleskey and Eric Boguniecki, the Iowa Chops scored a season-high eight goals including two in the final four minutes to defeat the Milwaukee Admirals 8-6 on Saturday night in front of 4,771 at the Wells Fargo Arena. Milwaukee got on the board first just as they did on Friday, but this time the Chops responded with a goal to tie the game at 1-1 from Eric Boguniecki, who smashed home a loose rebound past Drew MacIntyre with help from Petteri Wirtanen and Ryan Dingle. The Chops quickly made it 2-1 with a beautiful goal from Francis Wathier, who followed his own rebound and one-handed a shot past MacIntyre with help from AJ Baines and TJ Trevelyan. A minute later, the Chops made it 3-1 with a lazer wrist shot from Joakim Lindstrom on the power play with help from Josh Green and Matt Beleskey. The Chops increased the lead early in the 2nd period with another power play goal, this time from TJ Trevelyan, who tipped home a perfect pass from Drew Miller and more help from Lindstrom. Milwaukee stopped the bleeding with a goal from Mark Santorelli who deflected home a puck over the head of Chops goaltender David LeNeveu to make it 4-2. However, the Chops increased the lead back to three with a goal from Josh Green, who scored the third Chops power play goal of the night with help from Beleskey and Boguniecki. The Chops posted their largest lead of the night as Drew Miller scored coming down the right hand wing and chased MacIntyre, who had shutout the Chops the night before, from the net. Assists went to Andrew Ebbett and Lindstrom. The never-say-die Admirals fought back however, with four consecutive goals to end the 2nd period and start the 3rd period. Chops goalie David LeNeveu made some huge saves in goal as the Admirals worked to take the lead midway through the 3rd period. The Chops only posted three shots on goal in the final frame, but made two of them count as they regained the lead for good as Green scored his second goal of the night, tipping home a drive from the point from Brian Salcido with another assist to Eric Regan. Matt Beleskey added an insurance goal less than a minute later, as he banked home a shot from the side boards off a Admirals defenseman, and behind goaltender Mark Dekanich. Josh Green and Brennan Evans assisted. The Chops, led by more saves from LeNeveu, killed off the remaining two minutes to win, including a 6 on 4 power play for Milwaukee. The Iowa Chops power play went 3 for 6, while the Admirals were 1 for 4.
The Iowa Chops finish out their current six-game homestand on Sunday, November 23rd with a home game against the Grand Rapids Griffins at 5:05pm at the Wells Fargo Arena. For more information call 564-8700 or visit iowachops.com.
