Norfolk Admirals News Release
LOWELL, MA - Devils goaltender Dave Caruso made 43 saves as the Norfolk Admirals (5-10-1-3) fell to the Lowell Devils (6-7-1-2) 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Tsongas Arena.
The teams exchanged five-on-three power play goals in the opening period. Nicklas Bergfors opened scoring at 3:49 when he one-timed a Jon DiSalvatore feed through the legs of Norfolk netminder Karri Ramo.
The Admirals struck back ten minutes later with a one-timer of their own. Blair Jones sent a slap shot from the top of the left faceoff circle past Lowell goaltender Dave Caruso at 14:43.
Lowell took a 2-1 lead midway through the second period. Matthew Corrente sent a shot from the right point through a screen that beat Ramo five-hole at 12:44.
Rod Pelley doubled Lowell's lead midway through the final frame as his snap shot from the left faceoff dot went over Ramo's shoulder at 11:04. Pelley added an empty-net goal with 23 seconds remaining for a 4-1 final score.
Karri Ramo (23 shots, 20 saves) got the loss. Dave Caruso (44 shots, 43 saves) earned the win.
Norfolk was 1-5 on the power play. Lowell was 1-4
The Admirals will return to Scope with three games next week centered around Thanksgiving: Wednesday versus the Springfield Falcons, and Friday and Saturday versus the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
