
P-Bruins Fall to Falcons 5-1

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins fell to the Springfield Falcons 5-1 Saturday evening at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got their goal from Martin St. Pierre. The P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday versus the Hartford Wolf Pack at 4:05 p.m. for Jeremy Reich Poster Night.
The Falcons took a 1-0 advantage at the 18:10 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Ryan Potulny tipped the puck into the net off a shot from Theo Peckham for his ninth goal of the season. Rob Schremp recorded the second assist as Springfield took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, Springfield took a 2-0 lead at the 9:34 mark. Schremp netted his first goal of the season, with Potulny and Bryan Lerg getting the assists. The Falcons increased their lead to 3-0 at the 12:10 mark. Gilbert Brule scored his seventh goal of the season, while Viacheslav Trukhno had the lone assist. The P-Bruins got on the scoreboard, while on the power play at the 17:34 mark. Johnny Boychuk took a shot from the blue line and St. Pierre put the puck into the net off the rebound for his fourth goal of the season. Martins Karsums picked up the second assist. Just moments later the Falcons retook a three goal lead at the 18:10 mark. Lerg netted his third goal of the season, while Schremp and Potulny grabbed the assists. The Falcons went into the second intermission leading 4-1.
In the third period the Falcons finished the score with a power play goal at the 18:44 mark. Derek Bekar netted his fifth goal of the season with Tyler Spurgeon and Cody Wild getting the assists. Springfield went on to the 5-1 victory.
Kevin Regan stopped 15 of 19 shots and Kevin Nastiuk stopped 8 of 9 shots for the P-Bruins, while Devan Dubnyk made 21 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 1-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.
