Albany Devils News Release

LOWELL, Mass. - Lowell goalie Dave Caruso made a team season-high 43 saves and Rod Pelley led the offense with two goals to help the Devils defeat the Norfolk Admirals, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Tsongas Arena.

Nicklas Bergfors, returned late last night from the New Jersey Devils, also immediately made his presence felt as he opened the scoring at 3:49 of the first period. With Lowell skating on a two-man advantage, Jon DiSalvatore set up Bergfors at the point for a one-timer that beat Karri Ramo to the near post. The assist allowed DiSalvatore to extend his point streak to five games (3g, 5a).

The Admirals would score their only goal of the contest and tie the game, 1-1, on a 5-on-3 power play of their own. Blair Jones' slapshot from the blueline found its way past Caruso at 14:43 of the first.

Lowell took the lead for good at 12:44 of the second period on a low wrist shot by Matt Corrente that weaved its way through traffic and the five-hole of Ramo. Eric Castonguay notched the first assist on the goal and would also add a helper on Pelley's first goal of the contest.

After a face-off win by the Devils in the offensive zone, Castonguay picked up the puck and worked down the left wing, pulling two defenders with him. That opened up enough space on the near circle for Pelley who took Castonguay's pass and rattled a snapshot off the far post and into the net at 11:04 of the third.

Pelley also added an empty netter with 22.7 left in regulation to complete the scoring and record his first multi-goal game of the season.

The Devils were 1-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. The victory today ended a six-game home winless streak for Lowell.

Lowell next hosts the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, November 23 at 4:00p.m. Following Sunday's game, all fans in attendance can participate in a Free Post-Game Skate (sponsored by Eastern Bank) or a Team Autograph Session on the concourse.
