Edmonton brass see Grrrowl up close

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced that Edmonton Oiler Assistant General Manager SCOTT HOWSON will be on hand this weekend as the Grrrowl host games on Saturday (vs Charlotte @ 7:05pm) and Sunday (vs. Texas @ 3:05pm). Howson will be coming to town to assess the progress of six players that have been assigned to the Grrrowl.

The following is a list of players that Edmonton has assigned to Greenville for the 2004-05 season: Forwards: ED CARON, TOMAS MICKA, J.F. PLOURDE, MARTIN ST. PIERRE Defense: KENNY SMITH Goalie: MIKE MORRISON

Howson is responsible for the majority of hockey operations decisions, including player contracts and personnel moves for the Edmonton Oilers, and also hold the position as General Manager of the Edmonton Roadrunners (AHL affiliate for the Oilers). He has been a part of the organization since 1994, including seven seasons overseeing the operations for the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL). Howson was signed as a free agent by the New York Islanders organization in 1981 and was name the IHL Rookie of the Year after totaling 120 points (55G, 65A) in 71 games in Toledo. Grrrowl Head Coach John Marks played with Howson during that season in with the Indianapolis Checkers of the CHL.

The Grrrowl will be in action at home for four straight games, beginning on this Saturday night at 7:05pm against the Charlotte Checkers.
