Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC â The Charlotte Checkers are pleased to announce the promotion of Todd Ohlmeyer to Director of Ticket Sales. The announcement was made today by Checkers President, Jeff Longo.
Ohlmeyer steps in to fill a vacancy in the Checkers front office created by the announced departure of Shannon Smith, the Checkers Vice President of Ticket Sales. Smith has accepted a position with Evernham Motorsports in the Sponsorship Department and officially bids farewell to the offices at Cricket Arena on Friday, November 19th.
"I absolutely loved working for the Checkers," said Smith, "but I'm also excited about this new challenge. I am supremely confident in Todd's abilities and it's been a pleasure working with him for the past year and a half." Continued Smith, "Todd is an outstanding worker and he's extremely personable. There is no one better to fill my shoes, and I'm certain he will eclipse my legacy. He was made for the role."
After graduating from Pepperdine University, Ohlmeyer worked in IMG's Hockey Division. He relocated to the Queen City in December of '97 to take a position with ESPN in their Golf Production and Operations Division. Ohlmeyer also played professional golf on various mini-tours before joining the Checkers Ticket Department on Halloween, 2003.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity," said Ohlmeyer. "As an organization and as a team, we're headed in a great direction. Our attendance is climbing and I hope to build on the foundation that Shannon has set for us. She's been a great mentor in preparing me for success."
