Edmonton Assigns Gerber to Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the Oklahoma City Barons, assigned goaltender Martin Gerber to the Oklahoma City Barons, Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini announced today. In a separate transaction, the Barons assigned goaltender Bryan Pitton to Stockton Thunder of the ECHL.

Recalled November 18, Gerber started two games for the Oilers while Nikolai Khabibulin was tending to an injury. Gerber won both of his starts while with the Oilers, posting a 1.50 goals against average and .950 saves percentage. He returns to Oklahoma City with a 9-4-0 record, 2.56 goals against average, .911 saves percentage and one shutout. At the time of his recall, he was second in the league in wins and third in the league in minutes played.

Pitton appeared in one game since being recalled, stopping 19 of 21 shots November 30 against the Texas Stars. With Oklahoma City this season, he has a 1-1-0 mark. He will join his teammates on the Thunder in Victoria, BC for games this weekend against the Salmon Kings. With Stockton this season, he is 4-0-0 with a 1.91 goals against average and .922 saves percentage along with one shutout.

The Barons are making their second of three trips north of the border this weekend when they play two games against the Manitoba Moose in Winnipeg. Faceoff for both games is 7:30 p.m. Both games will be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
