Oklahoma City Comets News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City RedHawks and the Edmond Police Department have teamed up to promote motorcycle safety during a pre-game mobile classroom event on the Johnny Bench Plaza on Friday, August 19.

The Edmond Police Department uses a mobile classroom to conduct motorcycle safety classes, teaching motorcycle operators how to survive in traffic. Funded by a grant from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, the lesson plan and course curriculum is based upon motorcycle skills and operating techniques utilized by police motorcycle officers.

The program also focuses on the "Share the Road" program which educates the motoring public about the importance of safely sharing the roadway with motorcyclists.

As part of the class and demonstration, four Edmond Police Officers will exhibit two 2010 Harley Davidson Police Road King Motorcycles during the class for a demonstration of safety techniques. The event is free of charge.

First pitch for Friday's game against the Reno Aces (Diamondbacks) is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all remaining home games in the 2011 regular season are available through the RedHawks ticket office on S. Mickey Mantle Drive, by phone at (405) 218-1000 or by visiting okcredhawks.com.
