RedHawks Secure Series with 6-3 Win

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Brett Wallace collected three hits, including a two-run double in the seventh inning, and led the Oklahoma City RedHawks (58-68) to a 6-3 win over the Reno Aces (67-58) before 4,808 Thursday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.

RedHawks reliever Wesley Wright (3-1) dealt two shutout frames with one hit and four strikeouts in a winning decision. Reno reliever Brian Stokes was charged with five runs in the seventh inning for the losing decision.

Oklahoma City starter Andy Van Hekken allowed one run and six hits in five innings without a decision, and shaved his ERA from 3.14 to 3.08, still second in the Pacific Coast League.

Reno opened the scoring in the second inning with three consecutive two-out singles, the third from former RedHawk Tommy Manzella, which scored Michael Restovich for a 1-0 score.

The RedHawks were held scoreless in the first five innings against Reno starter Wes Roemer, recording only four hits over the first five frames. Oklahoma City finally broke through in the sixth inning when Anderson Hernandez tripled home Brett Wallace for a 1-1 score.

Oklahoma City blew the game open with a five-run seventh inning against Stokes. Jake Goebbert and Luis Durango singled before a Jordan Schafer single knocked in Goebbert for a 2-1 game. Brett Wallace next belted a double off the top of the left-centerfield wall, driving in two runs for a 4-1 score. After two more walks, Oswaldo Navarro singled home two more runs for a 6-1 game.

Reno cut the final count to 6-3 when Mark Hallberg belted a two-run home run to left field in the ninth inning against RedHawks reliever Sammy Gervacio.
