ECHL All-Star Assigned to Kalamazoo
December 4, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo Wings have received Curtis Valk on re-assignment from the Utica Comets, the team announced Friday.
Valk, 22, spent 31 games with Kalamazoo last season during an injury-plagued campaign, and registered 30 points (11 goals, 19 assists). The native of Medicine Hat, Alberta, was the ECHL's player of the month in October of last season and was voted to the ECHL All-Star Game. In rehabbing an injury suffered last season with Kalamazoo, Valk has yet to skate in a contest in the 2015-16 season.
Before turning pro, the 5-foot-9 center played four seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL), and was able to produce at a tremendous level. In 270 career games in the WHL, Valk registered 125 goals and 130 assists. In 2012-13 Valk poured in 91 points for the Tigers, and in the following season, topped that total by producing a career-high 92 points in Medicine Hat.
Valk will wear number 18 for Kalamazoo, and will begin his stint with the Wings on the 21-day injured reserve.
Kalamazoo will face off against the Elmira Jackals tonight at 7:05 p.m. from First Arena. All of the action can be heard on AM 1660 The Fan, beginning with a 6:50 p.m. pregame.
Single-game tickets are now on sale! Tickets can be purchased at kwings.com or at the Wings Event Center box office. Box office hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A $2 discount is applied on all tickets purchased before the date of the game.
