Indy Fuel News Release
Indianapolis - The Toledo Walleye got a pair of goals from A.J. Jenks and Tyler Sikura en route to a 5-2 win over the Fuel on Friday night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
The Fuel (9-9-2-0) got on the board first when Cody Sharib's wrist shot deflected in past Jake Paterson (29 saves) off the shaft of a Walleye player's stick for his sixth of the year.
But Toledo (11-5-1-3) built a 3-1 lead early in the second period when Sikura scored his first of the night on a shorthanded breakaway just 1:32 into the frame.
On that same power play, Zach Miskovic scored to move the Fuel back within a goal. After having his first two shot attempts blocked, the captain found the net on his third try for his second goal of the season to make it 3-2.
Jenks and Sikura would add insurance markers in the third, with Sikura scoring into an open net to cement the 5-2 win.
Mac Carruth (19 saves) took the loss for the Fuel.
Indy will now host the South Carolina Stingrays on Sunday afternoon at 3:05 pm in the only meeting of the two teams this regular season. The Morellis Cleaners Pre-game Show starts 15 minutes before every puck drop on CBS Sports 1430.
