ELMIRA, NY- David Gilbert's goal with ten seconds left in the third period led the Kalamazoo Wings over the Elmira Jackals, 3-2, on Friday night at First Arena.

For the second consecutive game, Elmira took an early lead over Kalamazoo. Mark Bennett carried the puck into the Kalamazoo end on a two-on-two, and left the puck for Tyler Currier, who trailed the play. Currier's try was saved by Joel Martin, but the rebound was brushed in by the backhand of Bennett.

With under five minutes to play in the second period, Justin Taylor equalized with a breakaway tally. After a broken stick left a vacant puck in the Kalamazoo zone, Cory Pritz raced it down and pushed a pass ahead to Taylor, who was behind the Jackals' defense. Taylor calmly slid the puck through the legs of Niklas Lundstrom and into the goal.

Kalamazoo took the lead early in the second period on a power play tally from Dane Fox. The forward snapped a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that went off the far-side post and into the goal. The goal ended an 0/14 skid on the man advantage for the Wings that dated back to November 21.

While Kalamazoo were on yet another man advantage, it would be Elmira who would capitalize while shorthanded for the second straight game. Jacob MacDonald received a pass from Mike Seidel during a two-on-one and fired a quick shot past Martin to tie the game at two.

With time winding down in the third period and overtime seeming imminent, David Gilbert punched a loose puck ahead to center ice and raced it down on his own, earning a breakaway on Lundstrom. Gilbert carried to the forehand and buried the puck with a waist-high shot that beat Lundstrom to the stick side for the game winner with just ten seconds left in the game.

Notes: The win for Kalamazoo snapped a season-long five-game losing streak. Kalamazoo have killed 11 straight penalties. Pritz had his second two-point game of the season and leads Kalamazoo defensemen with nine points. It was the second of three games in four days between the Wings and Jackals at First Arena, with the finale scheduled for Saturday, December 5.
