Early Rally Sparks Fourth Straight Thunder Win

Trenton Thunder News Release
A four-run third inning backed a gutsy pitching performance Monday night as the Thunder, presented by NJM Insurance, defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 6-1, at ARM & HAMMER Park.
New Hampshire (11-12) starter Hector Perez (1-2) struggled with command, including uncorking a wild pitch in the first inning that allowed Hoy Jun Park to score the game's first run from third. Omar Carrizales later doubled home a run for a 2-0 Thunder lead.
The Thunder (14-7) chased Perez from the game in the third. Ben Ruta, Chris Gittens, and Jorge Saez each walked to load the bases, and another wild pitch allowed Ruta to score. Angel Aguilar delivered a two-run single, and after Jonathan Cheshire entered in relief with two out, Park capped the rally with an RBI-single.
New Hampshire scored its only run in the top of the third off Thunder starter Brody Koerner. With runners on first and second, Koerner delivered a pitch in the dirt. Trailing runner Forrest Wall, getting a late jump on the basepaths, became trapped in a rundown between first and second long enough to allow lead runner Vinny Capra to score on the play.
Koerner battled a high pitch count, lasting just four innings and walking a career-high five batters. He received plenty of support from the bullpen, however, as James Reeves and Daniel Alvarez (4-0) each pitched two scoreless innings before Kaleb Ort finished off the Thunder's fourth straight win with a scoreless ninth.
Your Thunder continue their homestand on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. against the Fisher Cats. RHP Albert Abreu (0-2, 6.90) will start for the Thunder, and LHP Zach Logue (2-0, 3.27) will go for New Hampshire. Kids can eat free and dollar hot dogs will be available for all for Super Value Tuesday. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
