Early Lead Erased in 3-2 Setback

Harrisburg took a 2-0 lead after three innings but couldn't hold it, falling to Portland 3-2 at Hadlock Field Friday night. Portland broke the tie with a run in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Sens had three hits in the first inning and left runners on first and second, just a run. They had a leadoff single in the second but didn't score. They had back-to-back one out walks in the sixth but didn't score. The Sens five-game winning streak was snapped with the loss.

On Capitol Hill

Kyle McGowin made his first start for the Senators after being optioned from Washington. He pitched well retiring the first nine batters in the game with six strikeouts. He allowed a bunt single and a two-run home run in the fourth inning and finished by facing three batters in the fifth inning.

Bryan Bonnell pitched the final three innings and allowed the eventual winning run to score in the eighth inning. He struck out four in the outing. He took the loss, falling to 2-2 with the Sens.

With the Gavel

Michael A. Taylor was the only Senator to have two hits in the game and he also scored run and had a double.

Adrian Sanchez drove in a run with a ground out and hit a double.

The Senators stranded seven and went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position. They did not have a hit after Sanchez's double leading off the third inning.

Filibusters

- The loss snapped the Senators five-game winning streak. They're now 4-1 on their seven-game northeast road trip.

- Kyle McGowin became the 52nd player to appear in a game for the Sens.

- Before the game RHP Kyle Barraclough was recalled by the Washington Nationals.

On Deck

The Senators play the Portland Sea Dogs in game three of a four-game series Saturday night at Hadlock Field in Portland at 6 p.m. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Harrisburg 96.5FM 95.3FM and 1400AM beginning at 5:50 p.m.
