Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, CO â The Central Hockey League officially released the 2004-05 schedule this afternoon as the Colorado Eagles enter into their second season of play. They will host a total of 32 home games (including two exhibition games) at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado. The Eagles begin the season with high hopes as they won both the regular-season Northwest Division and the Northern Conference titles in their inaugural campaign.
Prior to the regular season, the Eagles will host the Tulsa Oilers at the Budweiser Events Center (BEC) on Friday, October 15th and Saturday, October 16th for two exhibition games. The 2004-05 60-game campaign begins on the road at the Ford Center against the Oklahoma City Blazers on Friday, October 22. The following evening, the squad will take on the newest member of the CHL, the Topeka Tarantulas (formerly the Indianapolis Ice) at Landon Arena in Topeka.
The home opener will host the Memphis RiverKings on Friday, October 29 for their only visit to the BEC this season. The New Mexico Scorpions will come to Loveland the most, visiting the Eagles six times including the New Year's Eve game. Colorado will host 14 of the 17 CHL teams this season; the Laredo Bucks, San Angelo Saints, and Austin Ice Bats will not be visiting. Some special events at Eagles games this year will be at least three "Bobblehead Nights" and the always popular jersey auctions. Colorado hosts 21 of 30 games on Friday or Saturday nights, while the remaining nine games will be on Wednesday nights. Of the Eagles' first 16 games, 12 of them are at the Budweiser Events Center in two six-game home stands. All home games are scheduled to begin at 7:05 pm MST.
Colorado travels to every city in the CHL at least once. They travel to Northwest Division opponents the most, going to New Mexico five times and to Wichita and Topeka four times respectively. The Eagles travel to Laredo to take on the reigning President's Cup Champions on Saturday, January 15. The Eagles longest stint away from the BEC will be in January when they go on the road for five games in a row. During that road trip, the Eagles will face the Austin Ice Bats in the first ever meeting between the two teams.
"We are very pleased with our schedule," remarked President and G.M. Ralph Backstrom. "The CHL did a great job at giving us the best schedule they could in relation to our location."
