Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release
LUBBOCK, TX â The Lubbock Cotton Kings 2004-05 regular season schedule was released today by the Central Hockey League, and the Kings will begin the year with a familiar foe in the division, not once, but twice. Lubbock opens the campaign with a home-and-home series against the Amarillo Gorillas, opening the season on Oct. 23 in Amarillo with the two teams facing off again the next Friday night for the Kings home opener.
The Kings are scheduled to play 60 games during the 2004-05 season with 30 games at home and 30 on the road. The home schedule features 22 weekend contests (eight Friday, eleven Saturday, three Sunday). All Sunday home games will have a 5:05 p.m. faceoff.
Lubbock plays in the CHL's Southwest Division of the Southern Conference, and will play 30 divisional games against the Odessa Jackalopes, Amarillo Gorillas and the San Angelo Saints (a total of 10 times each â five at home and five on the road).
The Kings will play a total of 10 games against non-division Western Conference foes. The Southeast Division boasts the Austin IceBats, Corpus Christi Rayz and the defending champion Laredo Bucks. The Kings will see all teams in the Southeast Division in four home games and six road contests. Lubbock will face the Bucks three times (1h, 2r).
Against the Northern Conference, the Kings will play 20 games. The Northwest Division is consisted of the New Mexico Scorpions, Colorado Eagles, Wichita Thunder and the expansion Topeka Tarantulas. The Kings will host eight games against this division while playing six on the road.
The Northeast Division will see the fewest games against the Kings this season. This division is made up of the Oklahoma City Blazers, Tulsa Oilers, Ft. Worth Brahmas, Memphis Riverkings and Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. The Kings will play three games at home against Tulsa, Memphis and Oklahoma City and will be on the road against Ft. Worth, Tulsa and Oklahoma City. All the road games against this division will be completed in the first full month of the season.
The Kings longest homestand will be a three game stretch after the season-opener in Amarillo. The longest road trip is three games and the Kings will do it twice â once in November and once in March.
The Kings will open the season playing three of the first four games at home and will close out the year playing four of the last six on the road.
