SOUTHAVEN, MS – The Memphis RiverKings, looking to return to the playoffs for the fourth time in five years, released their official 2004-05 schedule in conjunction with the Central Hockey League on Tuesday.

The RiverKings, who will play a 60-game schedule this year, start their season on Saturday, October 23 at 7:05 PM at the DeSoto Civic Center, as they host the Fort Worth Brahmas. The game is the first in a three-game home stand for the RiverKings to begin the new year, which also includes a Sunday afternoon home date against the Tulsa Oilers, and a Tuesday night game versus the Topeka Tarantulas, the league's sole new team this season.

Memphis fans will get a chance to watch their RiverKings match up against the defending President's Cup champions in the second part of the year, as the Laredo Bucks visit the DeSoto Civic Center on Saturday, January 29th. Memphis plays Laredo a total of two times during the regular season.

The schedule is very favorable for Memphis in the final half of the season, particularly in the last two months. The RiverKings are scheduled to play eleven of their last fourteen games within the friendly confines of the DeSoto Civic Center, including the last three games of the regular season. The early part of the schedule will see Memphis test their mettle on the road, playing eight contests in a row away from home in the month of November.

"All in all, I'd say our schedule is pretty favorable," said RiverKings head coach Mark Richards. "We don't have a lot of crazy trips throughout the year. And I like the fact that we play a lot of home games at the end of the year, because by that point, most guys are worn out from traveling."

As has been the case in recent years, the RiverKings play rival Bossier-Shreveport the most times, in what is perhaps the most contentious rivalry in the Central Hockey League. Either Memphis or Bossier-Shreveport has been to a league championship game in each of the last six seasons. Memphis plays Bossier-Shreveport eleven times on the season, including six games at the CenturyTel Center in Louisiana.

Memphis welcomes two new foes to the Northeast Division this year, as Oklahoma City and Tulsa move over from the Northwest Division to replace the departed Indianapolis Ice. The RiverKings will play the Blazers a total of seven times this year, with four of those games coming at home. Memphis faces off against Tulsa four times on the year.
