Eagles Fly Past Reign 3-0

Ontario Reign News Release

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Ontario Reign (10-7-0-2), four-time Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, saw their three-game win streak snapped in a 3-0 defeat to the Colorado Eagles (10-5-0-0) in front of a crowd of 5,289 on Saturday night at the Budweiser Events Center.

Darryl Bootland got the Eagles on the board with a power-play goal at the 1:14 mark of the second period, with Trent Daavetilla and Nathan Moon assisting after Bootland knocked in a rebound past Jussi Olkinuora.

Colorado's power-play continued to frustrate Ontario in the third period, as Curtis Gedig fired a wrist shot through traffic at 5:47, with Daavettila and Moon assisting again.

The best chance for the Reign to rally came at the 8:14 mark, when it appeared that Jeff May had beaten Eagles goaltender Clarke Saunders from the top of the right circle with a slap shot, but the goal was nullified after it was ruled that Saunders had been interfered with on the play.

Colorado completed its scoring at 13:39, when Brett Kulak barreled in and roofed a backhand shot past Olkinuora's blocker side, with Bootland and Moon assisting.

Olkinuora took the loss for Ontario with 23 saves; Saunders picked up the shutout victory with 27 stops.
