Eagles Defeated by Grizzlies 2-1 in Overtime

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Colorado Eagles were defeated by the Utah Grizzlies 2-1 in overtime at the Maverick Center on Monday night.

The first score of the game didn't come until Riley Nelson deflected a shot from the point from John Ryder into the back of the net 9:01 into the third period. Utah retaliated just three minutes later to tie the game, 1-1, with a goal from forward Rylan Gallardi.

Regulation time ended with a tally of, 1-1, and the Eagles entered overtime with a 5-on-3 power play but were unable to convert. 2:30 into overtime Grizzlies forward Danick Paquette found the back of the net to give Utah the 2-1 overtime win.

Eagles goaltender Marc Cheverie made some spectacular saves as he held off 24 of the 26 Grizzlies shots while Grizzlies net minder, Ben Meisner stopped 29 of Colorado's 30 shots. At the end of the Utah road trip the Eagles picked up three of the possible four points with the win on Saturday and Monday's overtime loss.
