Stockton Thunder News Release

Stockton, Calif. - Stockton Thunder Head Coach Rich Kromm has announced that the team has signed goaltender Brad Phillips, a free agent from Farmington Hills, Michigan. Phillips, 24, is a former 2007 NHL Entry Draft 7th round pick by the Philadelphia Flyers.

Phillips last appeared in a pro regular season game back in the 2011-12 season when he played for the Flyers two minor-league affiliates. He appeared in 29 games for the Trenton Titans of the ECHL and played 1 game for the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL. While with Trenton, Phillips went 8-14-0-2 with a 3.41 goals against average and .883 save percentage.

In his only AHL game, Phillips stopped 35 of 38 shots to earn a 4-3 win over the Syracuse Crunch on February 26, 2012.

Last season, Phillips was in training camp with the Ontario Reign and played in one preseason game against Las Vegas, but did not play in the regular season. This year he was in camp with the Huntsville Havoc of the SPHL but did not sign a contract with the team.

In juniors, Phillips played two seasons with the U.S. National Development team in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 2005 to 2007 competing in the NAHL. He represented the U.S. at the 2006 U-17 World Hockey Challenge, backstopping the team to a silver medal after falling to Canada Quebec, 5-2 in the gold medal game. Phillips was also named the goaltender of the tournament.

Following his junior career, Phillips played three seasons in college at Notre Dame, making his most appearances for the Fighting Irish as a junior when he played 10 games and went 2-3-3 with a .911 save percentage. He turned professional the next season in 2010-11, playing 30 games with the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the CHL.

Phillips replaces Parker Milner on the Thunder roster after Milner was called up to the AHL last week by the Thunder's affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He could see his first action in a Thunder uniform this week as the Thunder plays four games in the next five days, starting with the San Francisco Bulls at home on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
