DaSilva Earns ECHL Player of the Week Honors

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, are happy to announce that Reign veteran Dan DaSilva has been named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for the week of November 11-17.

DaSilva, 28, recorded 12 points (3g, 9a) and a +7 in five games last week helping the team earn a 4-0-0-1 record to end their seven-game road trip.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound forward earned an assist in a 3-2 shootout loss on Monday to the Utah Grizzlies. On Wednesday he recorded three points, all assists, on the Reign's 6-5 overtime victory in Idaho and he had two more helpers in Stockton on Friday night for a 4-1 win. DaSilva had two, three-point games in a row starting with two goals and an assist in Bakersfield on Saturday night in a 4-2 win, and a goal and two assists on Sunday afternoon in a 3-1 win over the Bulls.

The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native's impressive week gave him the league lead in points with a total of 26 (7g, 19a). Among those points he has the Reign's two short-handed goals, earned last week, eight power-play assists, and three insurance goals. DaSilva also leads the league with his three empty-net goals.

Last season DaSilva split his time between the Reign and the Houston Aeros (AHL). With Ontario he earned 42 points (15g, 27a) in 34 games and with Houston he recorded 14 points (8g, 6a) in 22 games. He has 322 career AHL games between Houston, Worcester, Lake Erie, Albany, and Lowell for a total of 168 points (74g, 94a).

On behalf of Dan DaSilva, a case of pucks will be donated to an Ontario youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood"ˆHockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 29,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
