Hutchinson Named ECHL Goaltender of the Week

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, are pleased to announce that Reign goaltender Michael Hutchinson has been named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of November 11 - 17.
Hutchinson, 23, is coming off a stellar five game week during which time he posted a 4-0-0-1 record, 1.85 goals-against average, and 0.941 save percentage.
A Barrie, Ontario native, Hutchinson remains unbeaten in regulation this season with a 7-0-0-2 record in nine appearances. His season save percentage of 0.940 leads the league and his 1.75 goals-against average ranks second - he ranks first in both categories for goalies with nine or more starts.
Last week Hutchinson stopped 38 shots on Monday night in a 3-2 shootout loss against the Utah Grizzlies. On Wednesday night in Idaho, Hutchinson came into the game in the third period and played for 1:28 of overtime before the Reign scored to win it 6-5. The 6-foot-3 goalie had no problem stopping all but one of Stockton's 15 shots on Friday night for a 4-1 win. The next two games saw many more shots on Hutchinson and he continued to stand tall with a 4-2 win on 33 shots in Bakersfield, and a 3-1 win on 39 shots in San Francisco on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Hutchinson was selected by the Boston Bruins in the third round (77th overall) in the 2008 NHL Draft. He has a total of 87 AHL games under his belt with the Bruins affiliate, the Providence Bruins, where his record is 39-37-5 including seven shutouts. Hutchinson posted a 2.57 goals-against average and a 0.916 save percentage.
