Dustin Pedroia to Rehab with Portland on Thursday Night

Portland, Maine - The Boston Red Sox have announced that 2B Dustin Pedroia is scheduled to make a Major League Rehab Assignment with the Portland Sea Dogs on Thursday night when they open up a six-game series with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Pedroia has been on Boston's 10-day injured list since April 18th with left knee irritation. In six games with Boston this season, he is 2-for-20, 2 RBI, walk, and a run scored. The 35-year old began the season on the disabled list and appeared in three rehab games with Low-A Greenville (3-for-9, 3 RBI, 2B) from April 4-7.

The rehab assignment by Pedroia will be the 53rd in team history and the 46th as a Red Sox affiliate. Last year the following players rehabbed with the Sea Dogs: RHP Austin Maddox, LHP Drew Pomeranz, LHP Bobby Poyner, LHP Eduardo Rodriguez, RHP Tyler Thornburg, and C Christian Vazquez.

Pedroia is a 2005 alum of the Portland Sea Dogs and enshrined in the UNUM Sea Dogs Hall of Fame in 2015. In 66 games with Portland in 2005, Pedroia hit .324 with 8 HR, 40 RBI, 19 2B, 2 3B, 39 R, and 7 SB. Also, he was a 2005 Eastern League Post-Season All-Star named to Baseball America's Double-A All-Star Team.

Achievements for Pedroia in the Majors Leagues: 2007 American League Rookie of the Year, 2008 American League Most Valuable Player, American League All-Star (2008-10, 2013), Gold Glove Award Winner (2008, 2011, 2013, 2014), Silver Slugger Award Winner (2008), and World Series Champion (2007, 2013, 2018).
