May 1, 2019 - Eastern League (EL1)
Hartford Yard Goats News Release

HARTFORD- Ashton Goudeau and two relievers combined on a three-hitter, as the Hartford Yard Goats blanked the Portland Sea Dogs, 2-0, before 6,338 Wednesday at Dunkin' Donuts Park. It marked the first time this season Hartford pitching tossed back-to-back shutouts, as the Yard Goats took two-of-three games against the Red Sox affiliate. It was Hartford's fourth shutout of the year.

Goudeau was brilliant, allowing two hits in seven innings of work with no walks and eight strike outs, tying a season-high. He has thrown 23 consecutive scoreless innings. Phillip Diehl pitched a 1-2-3 eighth and has not allowed a run in 12.1 innings. Ben Bowden nailed down his league-leading seventh save, pitching out of a ninth inning jam. Yard Goats pitching shutout Portland (7-14) in the last 21 innings of the series and struck out 24 Sea Dogs in the last two games. Hartford (13-14) has won five of its last six series.

The Yard Goats snapped the scoreless deadlock in the sixth inning against starter Kyle Hart. With two outs, Tyler Nevin doubled, Vince Fernandez delivered an RBI-single, and Hart and reliever Adam Lau combined for three wild pitches, enabling Fernandez to score.

Fernandez had a double, two singles, an RBI and a run scored to lead the Hartford offense. Manny Melendez added two singles.

The Yard Goats launch a six-game road trip Thursday at 6:35 PM at New Hampshire. LHP Jack Wynkoop will pitch for Hartford against RHP Andrew Sopko for New Hampshire. The game will be broadcast on News Radio 1410AM, on 100.9FM and on the Internet on newsradio1410.iheart.com and on MiLB.com.
