Durham Clinches Series Win against Nashville

DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls (29-25) defeated the Nashville Sounds (34-20) 4-1 on Sunday evening to claim the six-game series outright, winning all but two matchups.

Durham struck first in the opening inning as 1B Jonathan Aranda went yard on a solo shot to give the Bulls their 16th homer of the series. Sounds LF Abraham Almonte would tie the game at one in the third with an RBI single. Later that inning, Bulls 3B Miles Mastrobuoni would match Almonte's RBI single with an RBI single of his own to regain the lead.

In the sixth, LF Luke Raley connected on another RBI single for Durham to stretch the lead to 3-1. Later that inning, Aranda would cross home plate again, this time as part of a double steal to secure his second run of the game.

Shane Baz got the starting nod for the Bulls on the mound, throwing 4.1 innings while allowing one run on four hits and ringing up 10 strikeouts. The 10 strikeouts by Baz ties Durham's season-high one night after LHP Josh Fleming also recorded ten strikeouts.

The bullpen efforts of LHP Ben Bowden, LHP Zack Erwin, RHP Chris Muller, RHP Javy Guerra and RHP Cristofer Ogando combined for 4.2 hitless innings while ringing up two strikeouts. Bowden earned the win and Ogando notched the save, while Sounds starting pitcher Dylan File picked up the loss.

The Bulls will begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday for their second series of the season against the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Memphis Redbirds. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05pm ET.

Durham will return to the DBAP on Tuesday, June 14th to open a six-game series against the Louisville Bats. First pitch of the series opener is scheduled for 6:35pm.
