Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - The Bulls committed two errors and had just four hits as they suffered a 12-1 loss to Indianapolis on Monday at the DBAP.
After the Indians (9-7) scored in the top of the second, Taylor Motter knotted the game up for the Bulls (10-9) in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run, his first of the season. Indians starter Chad Kuhl (2-0) had gone five batters without allowing a baserunner before Motter's home run, then went six batters after the home run without a baserunner.
The Bulls threatened in the fourth when Richie Shaffer led off with a double and Kyle Roller singled in his next at-bat. Roller has now reached base safely in 12 straight games, dating back to April 9. The threat ended when Motter flied out to end the inning in the next at-bat.
Durham batters tied their season-high mark with 11 strikeouts in the loss, taking just two walks. Former Bull Cole Figueroa went 3 for 5 with two runs and three RBIs in his first start for Indianapolis, finishing a home run short of the cycle.
Austin Pruitt (2-1) suffered the loss for Durham, yielding nine hits and five earned runs in 3.2 innings. His two strikeouts were enough to grab him the lead in the International League, as he has 29 strikeouts after four starts.
Durham hosts Indianapolis in the rubber match and series finale at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday at the DBAP. Tickets can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com, or by calling the Frontier Communications Ticket Office at 919.956.BULL.
