Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Allentown, PA - Drew Hutchison and Noah Skirrow combined to pitch an absolute gem as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (43-43, 7-6) blanked the Charlotte Knights (37-51, 2-11), 4-0, for the second consecutive game on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park.
The IronPigs scratched out the first run of the game in the third. Kody Clemens singled to start the inning and then stole second and third. A Jim Haley groundout then scored him to put the IronPigs ahead 1-0.
A two out rally in the sixth produced three runs for the IronPigs. Nick Podkul walked to start the rally and Clemens then singled. Scott Kingery then walked to load the bases before Haley walked to force in a run. Rafael Marchan then followed with an automatic double, plating two runs, to stake the IronPigs to a 4-0 lead.
Four runs was more than enough support for Drew Hutchison (1-2) as he collected the win for the IronPigs. Hutchison retired the first 14 batters he faced and ultimately allowed just one baserunner a single. He ended up facing the minimum thanks to a caught stealing as he struck out five total.
Sammy Peralta (3-4) suffered the loss for Charlotte, allowing just a run over four innings on two hits, striking out three.
Noah Skirrow (S, 1) earned the save with the IronPigs as he piggybacked on the shutout with Hutchison. Skirrow threw the final four innings, allowing just four hits while striking out six.
The IronPigs and Knights wrap up their series on Sunday, July 16 with first pitch scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
