Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (December 29)- The Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced Tuesday afternoon the signing of enforcer Nathan Perrott for the remainder of the 2009-10 season.
Perrott, a National Hockey League (NHL) draft by the New Jersey Devils in 1995 (44th pick), will enter his 14th professional season after spending time in seven different leagues (AHL, ECHL, IHL, NHL, LNAH, Russia and KHL). The Owen Sound, ONT made his debut in the NHL in the 2001-02 season with the Nashville Predators. As a member of the Predators from 2001-2003, Perrott had 3 points (1 G, 2 A) and 79 penalty minutes. The winger's professional career began in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) with the Jacksonville Lizard Kings in 1997-98 where he accumulated 14 points (6 G, 8 A) and 135 penalty minutes in 30 games before making the move to the International Hockey League (IHL) midway through the year. Perrott amassed 53 points (30 G, 23 A) and 631 penalty minutes in two and a half seasons in the IHL. From the IHL, Perrott traveled through seven different teams in both the AHL and NHL, including the Dallas Stars in 2005-06. In 266 games in the AHL, Perrott netted 90 points (41 G, 49 A) and 985 penalty minutes with the Norfolk Admirals, Milwaukee Admirals, St. John's Maple Leafs and Toronto Marlies. His fearless and competitive nature traveled through the Nashville Predators, Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars in the NHL where he had 9 points (4 G, 5 A) and 251 penalty minutes in 89 games.
In the last two years Perrott took his game overseas playing in Russia and in the KHL (Kontinental Hockey League) collecting 235 minutes in the box in 24 games.
His tough guy reputation relishes from his love and participation in the sport of boxing as Perrott went from the rink to the ring making his first appearance this past September, winning his first bout in Philadelphia. Perrott was victorious in the fight earning a fourth round technical knockout on his opponent. Brahmas Head Coach believes the signing of Perrott will be good for his club as they near the midway mark in the season.
"Nathan will give us that extra edge we have been searching for this season. He is a proven leader and is tough as nails; his game will elevate our game on the ice for the remaining stretch," Wildfong said.
Perrott is expected to be in the lineup for the Brahmas on Wednesday when Texas takes on the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the NYTEX Sports Centre for a 7:05 PM faceoff. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or go to www.brahmas.com.
* The Brahmas also acquired the rights to defenseman Kevin Seibel from the Tulsa Oilers. The transaction completes the trade that sent Derek Merlini to Tulsa prior to the 2009-10 regular season. Seibel played 36 games with Tulsa last season collecting 14 points (3 G, 11 A).
