Peoria Chiefs News Release
PEORIA, Ill - Brendan Donovan's eighth inning home run would be the difference maker, giving the Peoria Chiefs a 3-2 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Thursday night at Dozer Park. The win marked the Chiefs first back-to-back victories of the young season.
Wilfredo Periera picked up the win on the hill after throwing three innings of relief, yielding no hits with four strikeouts.
The Timber Rattlers cracked the scoreboard first in the top of the third when David Hamilton hit a two-out linedrive to centerfield that scored Chad McClanahan from second. The lead would not last long for the visiting side, with the Chiefs responding in the bottom half of the inning when Malcom Nunez hit a standup double to left that plated Jhon Torres.
It would be Hamilton again taking advantage of another two out opportunity in the top of the fifth inning for Wisconsin, tripling to deep center to score Nick Kahle for a 2-1 lead.
The Chiefs evened the score at two apiece in the bottom of the seventh inning on a balk.
Leandro Cedeno walked his way 90 feet from third after a leadoff walk to kick off, however, the hosts would be unable to grab their first lead of the night, stranding Moises Castillo on third after he drove in Cedeno with a liner to centerfield.
Evan Sisk picked up his first save of the campaign, holding off a Wisconsin runner at second with back-to-back strikeouts and a ground out to third to preserve the win.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow for game four of the six-game series with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
