Chicago Dogs News Release

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Tony Rosselli batted 2-for-3 with two RBI as the Chicago Dogs pitching staff shut out the Gary SouthShore RailCats over the final eight innings, cruising to a 5-2 win to complete the sweep.

With the win, Chicago extended its franchise-best winning streak to six games.

It was a locked-in performance from Dogs starter Austin Wright (W, 3-5), who finished with two runs (one earned) on five hits to go with seven strikeouts over six frames. Carlos Zambrano and Kyle Halbohn combined to shut out the RailCats over the final three innings to secure the win.

Gary struck first, courtesy of a two-run double by Tom Walraven in the top of the first.

The score remained 2-0 until the Dogs offense came alive in the bottom of the fifth. After Gustavo Pierre tripled to lead off the inning, Rosselli singled him home to get Chicago on the board. Two batters later, David Olmedo-Barrera extended his hitting streak to 12 games with an RBI double to tie the game at two.

Later in the frame, Victor Roache smacked a sacrifice fly, scoring Harrison Smith, to give Chicago the 3-2 advantage. On the next at-bat, Jordan Dean ripped a run-scoring double to put the Dogs up 4-2.

Chicago tallied another run when Rosselli singled home Pierre, making it 5-2 Dogs.

Zambrano entered the game in the seventh and turned in a vintage performance. The former MLB All-Star allowed zero hits and runs while striking out three over two innings. It marked Big Z's third straight scoreless outing.

Halbohn worked the ninth for his sixth save in as many chances.

The Dogs depart for Sioux Falls to kick off a ten-game road trip on Friday night. LHP D.J. Snelten (4-2) will get the start with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM.
