Mankato MoonDogs News Release

The MoonDogs looked to sit alone atop of the Great Plains West after tonight's game as they take on the St. Cloud Rox for the last time of the season.

Derrick Smith would take the mound for the MoonDogs looking to keep his team's win streak with an appearance in the game going. Smith would put together a great start to the game going four scoreless innings before some defensive misplays would let the Rox break the tie in the bottom of the fifth with one getting across the plate.

Ian Culver would come in for the MoonDogs during the seventh ending Smiths night. Culver would keep it together for the MoonDogs going scoreless.

The MoonDogs would call it a night for Culver after his scoreless inning going to Tanner Shumski to try and keep things within striking distance. Shumski would do just that throwing a two-strikeout clean inning.

The MoonDogs would look to mount a comeback in the ninth when Ari Armas would make it on base with a single to left field. Armas would make it within 90 feet throughout the eventual Brody Harding walk. This would all be for nothing as the following two batters would go down on strikeouts end the MoonDogs' five game win streak as they fell 1-0 to the Rox.

The MoonDogs head to Canada for the first time in 3 years as they take on Thunder Bay at 5:35 P.M.
