Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Battle Creek, MI - The Kenosha Kingfish fell 4-3, and in walk-off fashion for the second night in a row, to the Battle Creek Battle Jacks. Coltrane Rubner (Davenport University) was the hero tonight, as he punched a rolling single to right field to score the winning run.

Three out of the four games in this set at MCCU Field were determined by just one run, as it came down to clutch, situational hitting in the closing frames.

The Kenosha-Battle Creek season series is now all tied up at 5-5 with a pair of games yet to be played at Historic Simmons Field in early August.

Kingfish power hitter Tucker Zdunich (Reinhardt University) now has a hit in three of his last four games after going 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a walk in this evening's contest.

Battle Jacks third baseman Jake Allgeyer (Western Illinois University) was a key contributor at the plate tonight; he went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a pair of RBI. Allgeyer is now 3-for-7 with two runs, two RBI and two walks in his last pair of games.

Dylan Howanitz (1-2) earned his first win of the year after throwing a scoreless inning of ball in the top of the ninth. The West Chester University hurler is one of three Battle Creek all stars (Fischer Pyatt, Charlie Rhee being the others) set to head to Traverse City in two weeks.

Kenosha all star Ross Thompson (1-3) dropped his third game of the year despite pitching for a team-best eight and a third innings of work for JT Scara's squad. The St. Ambrose righty gave up four runs and logged just one strikeout on the night, as he relied heavily on weak contact.

The Kingfish (20-26, 3-10) have dropped three straight games and sit alone at the bottom of the Great Lakes East second half standings.

The Battle Jacks (18-29, 8-5) have won three consecutive games and are trending upwards, as own second place in the division.

Kenosha will head home for a three-game series against the Kokomo Jackrabbits; the set begins with a doubleheader tomorrow, July 14.

First pitch for game one is scheduled for 5:35 PM CST, and game two will commence approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.
