Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Utility man Elian Herrera joins the Dodgers today, June 20. In a corresponding move, Albuquerque Isotopes catcher Stephen Cilladi has been activated from the disabled list.
Herrera is making his second stint with Los Angeles this season after being called up for the first time on May 7. He made his Major League debut with the Dodgers on May 15, 2012. The Dominican is hitting .253 (48-for-190) in 68 career MLB games with the Dodgers with a home run and 17 RBI. He went 1-for-3 in his only game with Albuquerque's parent club this season against Arizona on May 8.
Herrera, a switch-hitter, was batting .300 with five homers and 28 RBI in 61 games with the Isotopes, including a .317 mark with runners in scoring position (19-for-60).
This will mark the first time Cilladi has been active this season after he started the year on the Isotopes' disabled list. The right-handed backstop played one game with Albuquerque last season. Albuquerque takes on the Omaha Storm Chasers in game four of their five game set tonight at Werner Park. First pitched is scheduled for 6:05 PM MDT and southpaw Rob Rasmussen (0-1, 10.24) will take the ball for Albuquerque against Omaha's Danny Duffy (0-0, 15.19). All the action can be heard on AM 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
