Dodgers All-Star Rafael Furcal to Rehab with 'Topes
August 31, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Albuquerque Isotopes' playoff push will receive a boost from Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star shortstop Rafael Furcal, who is scheduled to play in a pair of rehabilitation games for the 'Topes on Wednesday and Thursday at Isotopes Park.
This season, Furcal is batting .316 with 57 runs scored, 20 doubles, five triples, eight homers, and 39 RBI in 76 games for the Dodgers, exploits that earned him his second career All-Star selection this past July. The shortstop has been sidelined since August 3, however, with a strained back.
Furcal joins outfielder Andre Ethier, catcher Brad Ausmus, and pitchers Charlie Haeger, Carlos Monasterios, Vicente Padilla, and George Sherrill as Dodgers who have played with the Isotopes on Major League rehabilitation assignments this season.
Albuquerque wraps up its 2010 regular season home schedule with two more games against the Iowa Cubs at Isotopes Park tomorrow and Thursday before finishing the season at Round Rock over Labor Day Weekend. The 'Topes will cap the regular season home slate in style with an encore appearance by Myron Noodleman on Thursday. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
